How Utah Delivery Force obtains and documents carrier consent to receive operational text messages, and how a carrier may withdraw it.
This policy applies to independent contract carriers engaged by Utah Delivery Force, LLC ("UDF") to deliver newspapers and related print products on assigned routes. It does not apply to UDF's end customers or subscribers.
Consent is collected verbally, in person, at the time a carrier is onboarded to a route. As part of that onboarding conversation, UDF explains that the carrier's mobile number will be used to send same-day delivery complaint notices and route-related operational updates, and confirms the carrier agrees to receive these messages at that number. See Section 6 below for the exact script used.
The onboarding carrier's name, phone number, and route assignment are recorded in UDF's internal carrier roster at the time consent is given.
Carriers receive a nightly digest summarizing that day's delivery complaints on their route — or a confirmation that none were received — so issues can be addressed before the next delivery cycle. Messages are transactional and operational; no marketing or promotional content is sent.
A carrier may withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by notifying UDF directly. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency is nightly on days with route activity.
This is the script UDF staff use, word for word, when onboarding a new carrier and obtaining their consent to receive route text updates:
The carrier's verbal "yes" is the consent event. Their name, phone number, and route assignment are recorded in UDF's internal carrier roster at that moment (see Section 2).
